All sectors of human activity are capable of emitting air pollutants that can affect neighbouring areas: industrial activities, waste treatment and construction sites, transports (road, air and waterborne), domestic activities (particularly heating), agriculture and forestry.
To measure atmospheric emissions – particulates and gases, Paris-Beauvais Airport relies on a network of sensors that currently consists of two fixed stations and two mobile stations. The first station is located at the airport entrance, opposite Terminal 1, as close as possible to the first residential properties in Tillé and to the airport’s air and road traffic. The second is situated not far from the refuelling depot. The mobile stations, meanwhile, are made available to neighbouring local authorities for ad hoc measurement campaigns.
The pollutants measured are:
· Particulate matter or fine particles (PM10 – PM2.5 – PM1).
· Nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂).
· Volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
